I'm at the Learning Technologies conference at Olympia in London, and sitting in the first session of the Learning Technologiy track in which Seb Schmoller and Jay Cross are looking at the future of learning.
Seb has demonstrated the exponential growth and the ubiquity of the technology. He also emphasised the importance of open source software and open content. For the latter, he remarked "learners will use it whether we like it or not", and it is scalable unlike the current cottage industry content development. Links for Seb's talk appear at his Fortnightly Mailling site.
Jay is talking about "learning under the radar" and has put all his links on his blog, informl.com. He's now showing his Informal Learning flow - "a content hub that collects and organizes the best information on the web around informal learning", and his own ecosystem. We're also using Backnoise as our back channel to comment on Jay's talk. He is now demonstrating veodia - how to create video and send to the cloud, as too Eyejot for video email.
A great start to the conference to get people thinking about all the new things available now and on the horizon.
