Here are a few of the other interesting resources I came across this week:
- A recent report from Pew: Generations Online in 2009 states "Contrary to the image of Generation Y as the "Net Generation," internet users in their 20s do not dominate every aspect of online life. Generation X is the most likely group to bank, shop, and look for health information online. Boomers are just as likely as Generation Y to make travel reservations online. And even Silent Generation internet users are competitive when it comes to email (although teens might point out that this is proof that email is for old people)".
- Academic Earth is an organization founded with the goal of giving everyone on earth access to a world class education. Here you can find thousands of video lectures from the world's top scholars.
- Lots more Twitter stuff too this week, for instance 140it to make your tweet less than 140 characters, TwitterSheep lets you create a tag cloud from the 'bios' of your twitter flock. Stephen Fry, in The New Adventures of Mr Stephen Fry explains how he copes with his 100,000+ followers, and an article in Social Media Todays provides Five steps to a successful corporate Twitter presence.
- An article in the New York Times discusses Sharing Selectively on Social Networking Sites - or learning how not to share - and this article, in Poynter online, describes the New York Times' Policy on Facebook and Other Social Networking Sites.
