Now that Dimdim, the free web meeting/conferencing tool has been acquired by Salesforce and no new accounts are being accepted, I have been asked for suggestions for alternatives.
In the list of Live tools in my Directory of Learning tools you can find nearly 120 tools for web, audio and video conferencing, screen sharing as well as accessing/ building virtual worlds.
I hope this might give you some ideas – and if you know of any tools that are not already on the list, please add the details in the comments below the list on the Directory page itself, and I will add them in.
I've evaluated several options and am going with Yuuguu. Fast, one-click to set up meetings, easiest on participants (no download), and only $80/year prepaid for 12 months. Vyew & Mikogo were clunkier, and MyWebEvent was nicer but starts at $25/mo, which is still half the price of Webex, GotoMeeting etc. If you need video, I'd go with MyWebEvent, but not worth it for me.
