News from The E-Learning Marketplace

In the few days since The E-Learning Marketplace was launched it has seen a lot of visitors. 

The E-Learning Service Providers Register now contains entries in 13 countries.  If you are a freelancer or a company offering e-learning services then you can add an entry for free.

If you have a job vacancy you can submit it to the site for free to appear in the Jobs Offered section. 

If you are looking for work, you can submit your details for free to appear in the Jobs Wanted section.  Here is an example of a recent jobhunter looking for work

• Learning Technologist looking for permanent work in the UK in London or surrounding areas.

The E-Learning Marketplace

We frequently receive emails from people asking for help in finding them a job in e-learning as well as from organisations who are looking for help to fill e-learning posts, so we have now launched a new service to help put these people in touch with one another: The E-Learning Marketplace.

If you are looking for an e-learning job, you can

• submit a Job Wanted entry
• view Jobs Offered

If you are looking to fill an e-learning job, you can

• submit a vacancy
• view Jobs Wanted

Note: this is purely a POSTING service; we are not acting as a recruitment agency.

The E-Learning Marketplace also aims to help organisations find freelancers or companies offering local e-learning services in the E-Learning Providers Register.  Freelancers and companies can easily submit an entry for the Register. (Note we've now moved the Register out of the Centre's website).

Future plans include offering a project posting service for organisations to provide details of e-learning projects they have for which they need help.

Tutorom

This is a new service due to lauch 1 March 2007, although you can sign up now to be part of the first beta.

"Tutorom will be a free site for elearning creation and delivery."

Everyone is talking about this service that launched yesterday, so I am going to do this posting before it becomes old news.

SplashCast is "a service that allows you to play dynamically updated channels of content on your web page, blog, or social network page (like MySpace)."

"SplashCast enables anyone to create streaming media 'channels' that combine video, music, photos, narration, text and RSS feeds. These user-generated channels can be played and easily syndicated on any web site, blog, or social network page. When channel owners modify their channel, their content is automatically updated across all the web pages 'tuned' to that channel."

E-Learning for Free - Information Service

For many years I have promoted and encouraged the use of free tools, content and other resources for those involved in designing, developing and delivering workplace learning or post-16 education.

I am now building an E-Learning for Free Information Service to create a one-stop place to access a variety of free resources not only to create different learning and performance solutions but to provide the best advice and best practice in doing so.

The site is still growing, but here are some of the resources available to view:

For creating learning and performance solutions

• Jane's Directory of Free E-Learning Tools is a growing list of free tools suitable for those involved in developing and delivering learning and performance solutions.  The tools in this Directory are listed both by category and alphabetically.  Now contains nearly 500 free tools
• Jane's Guide to Choosing and Using Free e-Learning Tools is an overview of the types of learning and performance solutions that can be created.  This Guide will be developed further to provide advice on how to choose and use free tools to create the solutions shown.
• Jane's Examples of Free E-Learning Content is a list of ideas of the different types of resources that are freely available online for all kinds of learning and performance needs, and are listed under a number of different categories.

To keep up-to-date with e-learning

• Jane's Guide to Free E-Learning Books provides links to free e-learning books and book chapters to download
• Jane's Guide to Free E-Learning Events is a list of events and venues where you can attend for free to find out more about e-learning.

I've just received information about this free new service from Famundo.

They're very readable, but cumbersome to create. So if you go to iPod-Notes.com you can find a web page o make it simple.

You can either upload a TEXT file (not a DOC or PDF) or point to a web page. Pick the form you want on the webpage and click the button to have your ebook automatically created!
